The Punch is reporting that the Nigerian police has invited a former Osun state deputy governor Senator Iyiola Omisore over an alleged attack on late Senator Isiaka Adeleke.

According to the report, late Adeleke had accused Omisore and a former police affairs minister Jelili Adesiyan and one Sogo Agboola of beating him up at a hotel while meeting officials of the PDP sent to conduct the primary election.

Although, Senator Adeleke died on April 23, 2017, the police last week sent an invitation to Omisore asking him to report to the Police Headquarters in Osogbo over the assault matter.

The dated October 20, 2017 was signed by Umega Uzochukwu, the deputy commissioner of police State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department.

It read in part: ”You are invited to meet with the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department in connection with a case of assault assigning harm reported by Late Senator Isiaka Adeleke against you."

NAIJ.com had reported several weeks back that Ademola Adeleke, younger brother of late Senator Isiaka and the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party won the Osun west senatorial district by-election.

In what was supposed to be a hotly contested election which took place on Saturday, July 9, Adeleke defeated the candidate of the All Progressives Congress Mudashiru Hussain, who had the backing of Governor Rauf Aregbesola.
The Punch reports that Adeleke who was the brother to the late Isiaka Adeleke whose demise necessitated the by-election got 97, 480 and won 9 out of the 10 local governments.
